#About - Due to the May, 2011 resignation of scandal-ridden U.S. Senator John Ensign, Nevada is holding a special election on September 13, 2011. The election is not for the Senate seat, which was filled when Governor Brian Sandoval appointed U.S. House District 2 Representative Dean Heller to serve out Ensign's term. It is for the vacancy created by Heller's selection. This could have been avoided had Sandoval chosen another person, but he didn't and we are having the election. There will be four candidates on the ballot - Mark Amodei (R), Kate Marshall (D), Timothy Fasano (IAP), and Helmuth Lehmann (IND).
You have until August 13 to register to vote by mail and until August 23 to register in person. Early voting is from August 27 through September 9. If you want to vote early, you can do so at any of these early voting locations. If you wait until Election Day, you can only vote at the specified location in the precinct in which you live.
