Whether or not you are going to Burning Man this year, you can get a taste of the big event on the Black Rock playa in downtown Reno on Friday, August 5. This free party will be from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Spire of Fire art installation next to the Truckee River and the Riverwalk, at the south end of the Sierra Street bridge.

Starting at 7 p.m., Burning Man wear will be on parade at an Inspirational Playa Fashion Show, followed by the Velocity Movement Hoop Jam at 7:30 p.m. Controlled Burn dancers will do their fiery magic starting at 8:30 p.m. While all this is going on, the Spire of Fire will doing its thing under the direction of local artists and creators Steve Atkins and Eric Smith. There will be a beer and wine garden by Wild River Grille, with proceeds going to benefit the Black Rock Arts Foundation.
