Everybody's doing it, and now you can count in local government entities in the Reno area. "It" is having a presence on the various big social media websites that have blossomed in the last couple of years. The big three are Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Lesser ones our governments variously dabble in include Flickr, LinkedIn, and blogging. To their credit, Reno, Sparks, and Washoe County seem to be actually using social media to let citizens know what they're up to. I suggest checking these out to stay connected with what's happening on the local government scene.

The State of Nevada is also in the game. You'll find a number of different state agencies and departments out there on Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube, sending out information for both residents and visitors.
