Next time you're out and #about in downtown Reno, you'll find a new way to pay for your parking slot. Gone are the rows of meters lining the sidewalks in from of each space, replaced by numbers painted on the curb. There is now a central pay kiosk servicing a single section of parking places, identified by the sign accompanying this article.

Overall, I think the new system is an improvement. It certainly is from an aesthetic point of view - getting rid of all those ugly posts and meters is a plus for making downtown a little more attractive. On the other hand, it's kind of sad to see yet another piece of Americana fade out, replaced by the impersonal screens and buttons of technology.
Having to park means you are driving around. You can save a few cents per gallon by doing a little comparison shopping for fuel. Check out Reno Gas Prices to find out where you can spend a little less on your next tank full.

Interesting info.
Not seeing you at my WWs.
I used one of those new parking meters today, with a credit card, and was told my transaction was complete, etc., and thank you. When I came to my car a little later, there was a big blue envelope on my windshield with a $20.00 ticket inside! I am in the process (waiting for a call-back from the city clerk’s office) of getting this resolved. What a giant pain in the a..!
