Movie buffs and fans of free entertainment will find plenty of free flicks showing throughout the Reno / Tahoe area this summer. The venues are various, as are the movies, which means there is something for just about everyone in the family. Check out my listing of free movies around the area, then head out and enjoy. Most are family friendly features, but there are a few exceptions. Be sure to check what will be showing on the screen before showing up at the movie. Here are some places to have fun and enjoy free feature and/or classic films...

  • Artown Movies in the Park
  • Summer Movies at Sierra View and other Library Branches
  • Tuesday Night Movies at the University of Nevada, Reno
  • Summer Movies at Squaw Valley

You'll have to pay to see the newest features and we've got a good selection of movie theaters scattered across the Truckee Meadows, from The Summit way down south to the multiplex in Sparks. We even have one of the few functioning drive-in movies left in the United States, the Westwind El Rancho.
