It's a sure sign of summer when the hot dog vendors come out of hibernation and start appearing on Reno's downtown streets. Such is the case with Awesome Dogs and owner/operator Craig Compton, seen recently on the Riverwalk next to the Truckee River. Awesome Dogs is an example of a locally-owned business that helps make downtown Reno a cool place for summer fun.

Compton serves up Italian, Chicago, and Coney Island hot dogs from his Awesome Dogs cart, along with an assortment of chips, drinks, and other goodies. I sampled an Italian dog and can testify that it was a tasty treat. If you'd like a good hot dog, look for Awesome Dogs on the south side of the Truckee River between Sierra Street and Arlington Avenue. That's near the foot bridge going over to the Wingfield Park island. During baseball season, Awesome Dogs can also be found near Aces Ballpark on game days.
