The saw #about there being only two seasons in Reno - winter and road construction - continues to hold true. While many projects happen in places you might not notice unless you live nearby, the S. McCarran Boulevard work starting on Monday, June 20, will present a challenge to the thousands of drivers who use this major Reno route on a daily basis.

McCarran Boulevard is the heavily used ring road around the Reno/Sparks metro area. This project takes in the stretch between S. Virginia Street on the west and Mira Loma Drive on the east. During the summer of 2011, work will involve pavement reconstruction between Virginia Street and Longley Lane, and work between Mira Loma Drive and Perro Lane. There will be a winter intermission from September 2011 to March 2012. Work next summer will add a third lane in each direction between Longley Lane and Mira Loma Drive, plus another left turn lane at Mira Loma and a bicycle/pedestrian path.
