The annual Reno Rodeo rides into town this Thursday, June 16, bringing ten days of the "Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West!" ( #about ) Starting things off is the Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive, which ends at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center after five days on the trail starting in Doyle, CA. It's really fun to watch the weekend wranglers herd the cows through the city streets. The cattle drive is scheduled to arrive around noon on Thursday. A great place to watch the herd thunder by is the corner of Oddie and Sutro, on the north side of the rodeo grounds.

On Saturday June 18 at 10 a.m., stake out your viewing spot along Virginia Street in downtown Reno for the Reno Rodeo Parade. This is a very popular spectacle, so arrive early to get a good spot.
The real Reno Rodeo events are inside the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center and feature all the rodeo action you would expect - saddle bronc, bull riding, bareback, women's professional barrel racing, steer wrestling, team roping, tie-down roping, drill team competitions, and team penning and cutting. Special events include PRCA Xtreme Bulls, Western States Drill Team Competition, a Special Kid's Rodeo, and the Reno Rodeo Invitational Team Roping Competition. If that's too much rodeo, you'll also find a carnival and the Double R Marketplace for a country shopping experience.
