Rain or shine, the Galena Creek Visitor Center will hold its Spring Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 22. The free family day at Galena Creek will include...
- Pioneer and nature-themed crafts and activities.
- Guided naturalist and ranger hikes on the interpretive trail.
- Geocache course in Galena Park.
- A special appearance by Smokey Bear from noon to 1 p.m.
While attending the Spring Open House, check out the Galena Creek Store inside the Visitor Center, where you will find outdoor recreation resources, field guides, maps, apparel, kids items, and more. For more information, please call (775) 849-4948.
The Galena Creek Visitor Center is managed by Washoe County Regional Parks & Open Space under a special use permit from the USDA Forest Service. Great Basin Institute has contracted with Washoe County to operate the Visitor Center, located at 18250 Mount Rose Highway (Nevada 431). During the summer season (May 1 - Oct. 15), Visitor Center hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
