Reno River Festival 2011 hits the rapids in downtown Reno starting this Friday, May 6, continuing through Mother's Day on Sunday, May 8. The River Festival has become one of Reno's big events and is major fun for everyone. In addition to pro and amateur kayaking competition, there will be stand up paddleboarding, an expo featuring the latest in outdoor gear, lots of food and drink, and music at the Wingfield Park amphitheater. Be sure to see Run Amuck, a two-person relay race and mud fest run between Idlewild Park and the Truckee River Whitewater Park. Spectating is free. A home brew competition will be a new event this year. Online registration for Reno River Festival events is also available for the first time. Find out where to park and more about the event from my information about the Reno River Festival.
