Though the weather is a little unsettled, I can safely say that spring has sprung in the Truckee Meadows. That means the pace of activities, both indoor and out, is picking up. Here are some choices for enjoying the next few days around Reno / Tahoe.

Easter Egg Hunts & Brunches - There will be a variety of both church-sponsored and non-denominational Easter egg hunts and events during the weekend. Check my article for hunts on both Saturday and Easter Sunday. After the hunt, try a traditional Easter brunch to enhance your Easter weekend pleasure.

Reno Aces Baseball - Our Reno Aces wind up the first home stand of this baseball season with evening games against the Sacramento River Cats on Thursday and Friday. Earth Day is the theme on Friday and there will be fireworks after the game.

Spring Break in Reno - Spring break activities around Reno for children and families include fun at the library, snow play, skiing, baseball, movies, and more. Check out my list of spring break activities and you'll probably find something your family would like to do.

Free Coffee or Tea at Starbucks - On Earth Day (Friday, April 22), bring your own mug to Starbucks for a free cup of brewed coffee or tea. Don't have a travel mug? Get one there for 20% off. The same freebie applies if you use one of their cups and drink your beverage at the store rather than taking a paper cup.

Dragons and Dinos at the Wilbur D. May Museum - Dragons and Dinos is a family nature exhibit at the Wilbur D. May Museum in Reno's Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. Bring your children for a voyage back to the days when dinos and dragons were real.

Reno Community e-Waste Collection Event - Reno's annual Community e-Waste Collection Event for 2011 will be on Saturday, April 23. Round up your old electronics gizmos and bring them to the site of the old Park Lane Mall (corner Plumb Lane and S. Virginia Street), between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., for proper disposal and recycling.

Tahoe Truckee Earth Day Festival - Happening on Saturday, April 23, this is one of the big Earth Day celebrations going on in the Reno / Tahoe area. Reno's big annual Earth Day Celebration in Idlewild Park will be on Sunday, May 1.

Learn to Ski or Snowboard - Take advantage this winter's huge snow pack and spring conditions to learn how to downhill ski or snowboard, or get on track with cross country skiing. Our Sierra ski resorts have the best snow in decades, so this is a great time to take advantage of excellent conditions on the slopes.

If you have an event or activity you'd like to publicize for free, you can do it right here on RenoTahoe.About.com. Just go to Reno Area Events Submitted By Readers and fill out the form at the bottom of the page. Once approved, your entry will appear for Reno / Tahoe visitors to see.
