For the first time ever, the first stage route of the Amgen Tour of California bicycle race includes a slice of Nevada. The grand start of the Tour will be at South Lake Tahoe on May 15, 2011. Stage two starts the next day where stage one ended, Northstar-at-Tahoe, and ends in Sacramento. The stage one route circles Lake Tahoe, with bicycle racers passing through Incline Village and running the entire east shore (Nevada side) on their way to the finish at Northstar.
Volunteers are needed to help event organizers at both Lake Tahoe start/finish locations. This is an opportunity for bike racing fans to get up close and personal with the action while helping make this first-ever Lake Tahoe event a success.
