Siena Hiring, About to Reopen

The Siena Hotel Spa Casino is bucking the trend in Reno. I reported last year that the property had closed in October due to bankruptcy and around $50 million in debt. It was sold at auction in November for a mere $3.9 million to Grand Siena LLC, a group consisting of David Colvin, Jay Meilstrup, and Bruce Merati. The purchase freed the property from crushing debt and included all the furnishings and equipment. They announced plans to turn things around and reopen early this year and it looks like they are about to do so. With nothing but bad news about Reno's economy for years and an unemployment rate stuck in the 13% zone, it sure is nice to see a positive development.

The new Siena Hotel Spa Casino is now accepting employment applications online for just about every position needed, among which are human resources, security, accounting, food service, sales, housekeeping, casino operations, IT, and more. The Siena is also having a job fair on Tuesday, March 8 and Thursday, March 10. It will be in the Siena Ballroom, from noon to 8 p.m. both days. The Siena is at One S. Lake Street in Reno, across from the National Automobile Museum. The info phone is (775) 682-3900.
