In March, National Women's History Month is celebrated here in Reno, across the United States, and around the world. There are a number of Reno events scheduled to mark the occasion, including activities sponsored by the Nevada Women's History Project at the University of Nevada, Reno. Nevada even has national representation in the person of Sarah Winnemucca, a Native American who made lasting contributions to our state. A beautiful statue of her is one of only 24 on display in the Capitol Visitor's Center in Washington, D.C. A duplicate stands in the Nevada State Capitol in Carson City.
