The Historic Reno Preservation Society (HRPS) will be presenting a series of programs this winter and spring. Each program will highlight a topic tied to the past in Reno and nearby areas of northern Nevada. Programs begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public. They are held at Mt. Rose Elementary School, 915 Lander Ave. in Reno. Space is limited and reservations are required. For more information and to make reservations, call (775) 747-4478.

Here is the lineup scheduled so far...

  • January 26 - "A Legal History of the Truckee River"
  • February 23 - "Governor's Mansion History and Restoration"
  • March 23 - "Lincoln Highway through Nevada and Over the Sierra"

The HRPS annual Movie Night is on April 27, 2011. The movie will be Wild is the Wind, a film shot mostly in the Carson Vally south of Reno. Admission is $10. The showing is at Studio on 4th, 432 E. Fourth St. in Reno.
