The City of Reno and Washoe County are asking residents to share their thoughts about sharing services in three areas: Information Technology, Human Resources, and Purchasing. Washoe County and the City of Reno already share dozens of services through inter-local agreements, memorandums of understanding and even full consolidation. Matrix Consulting Group was hired to study consolidation and their report is now available online. From the report introduction... "This study provides a thorough assessment of a wide variety of approaches to sharing services ranging from increased cooperation to organizational consolidation for these important administrative services functions. The scope of the alternatives examined include opportunities to improve service delivery and/or cost effectiveness immediately or to begin planning for in the years to come."

The Shared Services Elected Officials Committee will meet on December 20 to review the survey and consider possible action. The review will include your citizen comments, which can be submitted online from either of two places.
