It's been nasty out there in campaign land. We've all been bombarded with truth, lies, and dueling accusations for months as this contentious election has ground its way to the grand finale - Election Day. The choices in the big Nevada races for governor and U.S. Senate are clearly defined and I don't think there are many who didn't make up their mind well before November 2. In any event, we get the final say and then have to live with the results.

There are lots of polls out there. The Real Clear Politics website has figured an average from the results of several.

In the governor's contest, Brian Sandoval (R) is 54.5 percent to Rory Reid's (D) 36.3 percent. Sandoval, who beat incumbent Jim Gibbons in the June primary, has maintained a double digit lead for almost all of the campaign season.

The U.S. Senate race between incumbent Harry Reid (D) and challenger Sharron Angle (R) has been close the whole way. Real Clear Politics shows Angle at 47.3 percent against Reid's 45.5 percent and ranks the race as a toss up. This one is going to be a squeaker for whoever prevails. If it's close enough, you can bet a recount will be demanded and the eventual winner won't be known for some time.
