For 2010, the Nevada Day parade will be on Saturday, October 30. It was on October 31, 1864 when Nevada was admitted to the Union as our 36th state. The official holiday for Nevada government will be on Friday, October 29, meaning state and local offices will be closed, including the DMV, courts, and libraries.

The Nevada Day Celebration is appropriately centered in Carson City, Nevada's first and only capital city. The theme for 2010 is 100 Years of Aviation in Nevada. Aviation pioneer Dick Rutan will serve as Nevada Day Parade Grand Marshal. Various Nevada Day events will be spread over three days, from Friday, October 29, through Sunday, October 31. The biggest event is Saturday's Nevada Day Parade, starting at 10 a.m. and running down Carson Street, from William Street on the north to Stewart Street on the south. The parade is well attended, so I'd get there early to stake out a good viewing spot.
