It's been wet so far this October, perhaps wetter than you think. To date, we've received 2.20 inches of rain in the Reno area, which is an October monthly record since measurements started being kept in 1871. The previous record was 2.14 inches set in 1945. Last Sunday's deluge put us over the top and more may be on the way.

A storm forecast to arrive late this weekend could go either way, according to the National Weather Service. At this point, forecasters are uncertain due to the effects of a strong La Niña in the Pacific Ocean. Reno is in the area where the La Niña influence could go either way - a wetter or drier than normal winter. Meanwhile, keep your eye on the sky and check the weather report if you have outdoor activities planned for the weekend. If you are going to the high country, a look at highway conditions is in order.

Yeah, lots of rain for Reno and there is more forecast for the weekend. It’s been mighty parched around here for several years and we need it, so no complaints out of me.
