Did you know that the State of Nevada has a program to help residents save money on prescription drugs? It's true - through the
Nevada Canadian Pharmacy Program, you can order medications from Canadian pharmacies licensed by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy and be assured the drugs will be the same quality as those obtained from local sources. And as you probably know, they are usually the exact same drugs that were manufactured in the United States in the first place. This Canadian Pharmacy Program is designed to achieve two goals for Nevada residents - lower healthcare costs and protect residents who choose to have prescriptions filled in Canada by ensuring that the licensed pharmacies in the program meet the same standards as those protecting consumers in the U.S.
All Nevada residents can use the Nevada Canadian Pharmacy Program. There are no income requirements and you do not need to be a recipient of Medicare or any other assistance program. Under Nevada law, the program is legal, but the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) maintains that importing prescription drugs originally manufactured in the United States is a violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. However, I'm not aware of any problems Nevadans have had in using the program. For more information about who to contact with questions, refer to my Nevada Canadian Pharmacy Program article.
