Flu season is just about here, which means it's time to check out your options for getting seasonal flu shots for your family. For the first time ever, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that everyone 6 months of age and older get a seasonal flu shot. An alternative is the nasal-spray flu vaccine approved for healthy people ages 2 to 49 years. Unlike last year, a separate H1N1 (swine) flu inoculation is no longer needed.

Rotary Family Flu Shot Day will be on Saturday, October 16, 2010, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. These free seasonal flu shots will be offered at the University of Nevada, Reno's West Stadium Parking Garage, but you must pre-register to participate in this drive-thru only clinic. Pre-registration and wristband distribution will be held from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 6, Thursday, October 7, and Friday, October 8, at the Washoe County Health District. For more information, call (775) 328-2483.
