Reno Celtic Celebration, Reno, Nevada

The weather doesn't get any better than this. The weekend forecast is for decidedly summer-like conditions, with sunny skies and temperatures in the high 80s and low 90s. It should be just about perfect to get out and enjoy these fall events in the Reno / Tahoe region.

Fall Color at the May Arboretum - Friday, October 1. The May Arboretum is located in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park. On four days in October, the public can join horticulturist Bill Carlos and Arboretum volunteers for free guided fall color walks through the grounds lasting about about an hour. Meet at the May Arboretum Office in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park, 1595 N. Sierra St. in Reno. For information, call (775) 785-4153. There will be additional walks on October 9, 15, and 23.

20th Annual Reno Celtic Celebration - Saturday & Sunday, October 2 - 3. The 20th Annual Reno Celtic Celebration is at Bartley Ranch Regional Park in south Reno. Come enjoy bag pipe bands, Celtic musicians, highland games, Scottish and Irish dancers, and lots of good food and drink.

Kokanee Salmon Festival at Lake Tahoe - Saturday & Sunday, October 2 - 3. The Kokanee Salmon Festival is a family event centered around the annual Kokanee salmon spawning run up Taylor Creek from Lake Tahoe. Besides watching these amazing fish, there will be interpretive programs, special events, food, and Sammy Salmon at the Taylor Creek Visitor Center. On Sunday October 3rd the Tahoe Mountain Milers and Sagebrush Stompers Running Clubs will present the Kokanee Trail Runs.

Smart Living Expo & Annual Solar Tour - Saturday, October 2. Learn from the experts how to live a more sustainable lifestyle. Exhibitors that are experts in various fields of sustainability and green living will help you know how - solar, organic farming, alternative transportation and more. The Expo runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Grassroots Bookstore, 660 E. Grove St. in Reno. Admission is free.

Wolf Pack Football - Saturday, October 2. Nevada's Wolf Pack is playing some exciting football this season. With a 4-0 record so far, they've made it into the top 25 of the national rankings. This Saturday, the Pack travels to Las Vegas to play the Rebels in the Battle for the Fremont Cannon, the game's trophy since 1970. UNR won the 2009 game at home.
