You are needed to help with Truckee River Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 25, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will work at one of several parks along the Truckee River corridor. For directions to the sites and information on what you'll be doing, refer to the Event Flyer. Besides picking up trash, volunteers will help with tasks like pulling weeds, cleaning and sweeping, graffiti removal, flower planting, tree wrapping, clearing paths, and more.

To join the effort, fill out the online volunteer form and select your site. You can get more information by calling (775) 323-3433 or (775) 851-5185. People under 18 who want to volunteer without an adult must have a signed permission form from their parent or guardian. Following the cleanup, there will be a volunteer appreciation BBQ lunch at Rock Park in Sparks.

Truckee River Cleanup Day is organized by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB) and Nevada EcoNet. Numerous local businesses, organizations, and government entities help sponsor Truckee River Cleanup Day.

Autumn Equinox - Fall official began yesterday, at 8:09 p.m. to be precise. With pleasant days and cool nights, it's my favorite season around Reno / Tahoe. Fall color will be painting the area soon and there are still plenty of fun things to do before the snow flies.

National Public Lands Day - September 25 is National Public Lands Day. If you will be somewhere in Nevada besides the Reno / Tahoe area (or anywhere in the U.S. for that matter), you can still volunteer at one of numerous participating sites.
