Having access to, and more importantly, being able to afford decent health care services is a big problem for growing numbers of Reno / Tahoe residents. Laid-off workers lose whatever employer-sponsored health insurance they may have had and continuing it through COBRA is frequently out of financial reach. These people now have no income beyond unemployment insurance, which is not enough to pay exorbitant insurance premiums.

Helping to fill this need for thousands in our region are community health centers and clinics. We are fortunate to have several of these facilities available to low-income citizens who meet federal and state qualifications, plus another program that helps make medical services more affordable with a network of health care providers offering reduced rates.
