September is Hunger Action Month across the nation and the need is greater than ever. Here in the Reno / Tahoe area, the Food Bank of Northern Nevada has seen requests for help increase dramatically since the economic crisis began. To help meet the demand, merchants at the Mayberry Landing shopping center are teaming up with the Food Bank this month to take action themselves and to encourage citizens to take action through the 30 Ways in 30 Days campaign.

Mayberry Landing merchants are helping in a number of ways. Customers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations as well as make cash donations if so moved ($1 can provide four meals). The stores and restaurants are also having a raffle for over 25 items. Raffle tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and available at all the businesses. The drawing will be held at Mayberry Landing on October 2 at 11:00 a.m. Winners will be notified.
