Artown Finale

Artown 2010 comes to an end this Saturday after a final week of art and culture activities all around the Reno area. I have really enjoyed Artown this year and hope you were able to get out and attend many activities as well. Here is a partial list of what's going on up to and including the finale with Karl Denson's Tiny Universe at Wingfield Park.

World Music Series - Wednesday, July 28, 7:30 p.m. Indian pop singer Kailash Kher has had to cancel. Rupa & the April Fishes will lead off with their global agit-pop sound. Bollywood then comes to the stage with entertainment from Non Stop Bhangra.

Dancing in the Park: Sierra Nevada Ballet - Thursday, July 29, 8 p.m. "Dancing By The River" is a mixed program with singer Cami Thompson and her trio. Wingfield Park amphitheater. Free.

Rollin' on the River Music Series - Friday, July 30, 5:30 p.m. This week, troubador and country rock musician Elliot Randall performs in Wingfield Park. Free.

Diavolo and the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra - Friday, July 30, 8 p.m. Exciting dual performance at the Grand Sierra Resort Theatre. $25 - $65. (775) 789-2285.

Movies in the Park: On the Waterfront - Friday, July 30, 9 p.m. Bring low-back chairs or blankets to enjoy a free flick in Wingfield Park by the Truckee River.

Newlands Neighborhood - Saturday, July 31, 9 a.m. Take an architectural walk through one of Reno's oldest and still prestigious neighborhood. $10.

Artown Closing Night: Karl Denson's Tiny Universe - Saturday, July 31, 7:30 p.m. Fun party with lots of music at Wingfield Park. It's free, but come early if you expect to sit down anywhere near the amphitheater.
