Two polls recently presented in this space elicited quite a bit of interest with lots of votes and several comments. Here are the results to date. Both polls remain open and you are invited to voice your opinion by voting and/or leaving a comment.

Reid vs. Angle Campaign is Just Starting - Voters in the June primary election chose Republican Sharron Angle to oppose incumbent Democrat Harry Reid in the U.S. Senate race in November. I asked readers to choose between the two or indicate that they favoring another candidate or were undecided. Unlike every other poll I've seen thus far, my poll gives Reid a big winning margin.

  • Harry Reid (D), incumbent (76) 81%
  • Sharron Angle (R), challenger (22) 20%
  • Another candidate (1) 0%
  • Undecided (2) 1%

How many firefighters should be on a Reno fire truck? - The Reno City Council may pass this question along to the citizens for a vote. According to my poll, however, people overwhelmingly think they shouldn't be asked to vote on the matter. There are some interesting comments as well, including one from a fellow in Canada who makes some good points as an outside observer.

  • Yes (14) 7%
  • No (181) 90%
  • Not sure (4) 2%

I’m sure your poll is very scientific, right? I mean, your readers probably reflect the broad spectrum of likely Nevada voters, don’t they? Something tells me, they do not.

Greg is correct in that the poll results show whoever decides to vote. There is no attempt on my part to control who votes or how they vote. It’s voter self-selection. I have not idea who is represented, though the results give some indication. I should have stated this up front to avoid misinterpretation of the results.
