Reno's biggest big events need lots of volunteers to save money and make sure things run smoothly. Without volunteers, it just wouldn't be possible for the rest of us and thousands of visitors to enjoy world famous events like Artown, Hot August Nights, and the Reno-Tahoe Open PGA golf tournament.

Artown, the entire month of July. Artown volunteers work events taking place in Wingfield Park, at the Robert Z. Hawkins Amphitheater, and at Discover the Arts venues around town. Volunteers serve as greeters, ticket takers, assist with seating, provide information to attendees, collect surveys, aid performers, and assist with many other tasks. To learn more, contact Bryan Wildman, Artown Festival Manager at (775) 322-1538.

Hot August Nights, July 30 through August 8. Hot August Nights (HAN) volunteers not only help during the event, they can participate in a variety of community activities all year. Volunteers become members of various committees, each with a specific task. Get the scoop from the Become a Hot August Nights Volunteer Member section of the event's website.

The Reno-Tahoe Open is a PGA tour golf tournament held at the Montreaux Golf & Country Club in Reno. The 2010 event is July 12 through 18. The website features online volunteer registration and information about what is involved and the perks volunteers receive.
