Reno River Festival - Friday - Sunday, May 7 - 9. The Reno River Festival is one the first big events of the season in Reno / Tahoe, and it's free to attend. The 2010 version will be the 7th annual and as many as 40,000 people are expected to attend. Be sure to watch (or enter) the Run Amuck race and catch the action with a new event this year - stand up paddleboard. The official Reno River Festival Kick-Off Party will be May 7 at the Imperial Bar & Lounge in downtown Reno, starting at 7 p.m.
Mother's Day - Sunday, May 9. Mother's Day in Reno / Tahoe is full of opportunities to treat Mom and show her what a special lady she is. Check out all of the choices for Mother's Day activities, outings, and dining.
Great Truckee Meadows Community Cleanup - Saturday, May 8. Join Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful (KTMB), Washoe County, the cities of Reno and Sparks, Reno-Sparks Indian Colony, BLM, USFS, Waste Management and numerous other partners and volunteer groups to clean up our area open spaces. The 5th annual Great Truckee Meadows Community Cleanup will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon. After the cleanup, there will be a celebration picnic for all volunteers. Cinco de Mayo Fiesta with The Reno Pops Orchestra - Saturday, May 8. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with the Reno Pops Orchestra at 7:00 p.m. on May 8, in Nightingale Concert Hall on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. The orchestra, guest musicians' and dancers will perform several selections in the Latin and Spanish tradition. Admission is free, but donations to cover costs are greatly appreciated. Family Ranch Day at Bartley Ranch Regional Park - Saturday, May 8. Nevada's ranching heritage comes to life at Bartley Ranch Regional Park during this family-oriented and free event. Family Ranch Day will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will feature a variety of activities from right off the farm. Look for frontier games, live farm animals, demonstrations of traditional ranch crafts, tours of the park's historic Ranch Building with Truckee Meadows Remembered, baggie garden planting and more.
