We're not real big on Chinese New Year celebrations, but we do have some family-friendly activities to help bring in the Year of the Tiger.

On Saturday, February 6 at 7 p.m., the Reno Pops Orchestra will be celebrating Chinese New Year with a special concert in Nightingale Concert Hall at the University of Nevada, Reno. Admission is free, but donations to cover costs are gratefully accepted. In addition to the orchestra performance, the show will feature a number of performers, including soloists from the Huang family on a variety of Chinese folk instruments.

On Saturday, February 13, come enjoy the 8th Annual Asian New Year Celebration at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada in Carson City. There will be dancers, demonstrations, and various arts, crafts, and cultural activities. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada is at 813 N. Carson Street, Carson City. Events start at 10 a.m. Admission is $3 for children, $5 for adults. Once inside, all activities are free.
