Get Some Culture and Learn Winter Skills at TMCC

The Workforce Development and Continuing Education (WDCE) program at Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) is currently offering some courses to help you enjoy different cultures and learn how to have some fun during our snowy winter months. Here are some topics of particular interest, but they are only a small sampling of the wide range of available WDCE courses.
  • World Religions - intro to 14 different faiths, ranging from Native American spirituality to Zoroastrianism.
  • Indian Cooking - learn how to create exotic, healthy dishes.
  • Mandarin Chinese - basic conversation skills you can use for business or personal travel.
  • Kabbalah - learn about Jewish mysticism while engaging in meditation, self-reflection and prayer.
  • Traditional Irish Music - includes a look at Irish culture... its music, food and dance.
  • Snowshoeing - learn how to enjoy beautiful winter scenery with this enjoyable, easy-to-learn sport.
  • Winter Survival - learn about back country travel during winter and skills needed to survive under frigid conditions.
  • Avalanche I - this is a must if you go into the back country when things are covered with snow.
  • Classic Telemark Turn - improve your Nordic downhill skills by mastering this classic turn.

WDCE classes are non-credit, designed for personal enrichment and various types of business education. You may not get college credit, but you will come away with new and useful knowledge. Both classroom and online courses are offered from WDCE. To see a list of everything, go to WDCE Programs.
