Get Paid to Count Your Neighbors

It's that time of the decade once again and the U.S. Census Bureau is ramping up to count everyone living in the United States. To accomplish this task during Census 2010, literally hundreds of thousands of people are being hired to document what are now more than 300 million of us. Most jobs will start during spring 2010.

As outlined on the 2010 Census Jobs website, the application process and qualifications are pretty straightforward. There is a test to determine your ability to perform the tasks involved and you must prove legal eligibility to work in the U.S. There is an online practice test so you can see what kinds of things you need to know.

If you are interested in applying, make a testing appointment by calling the toll-free jobs line at (866) 861-2010 or the local Reno office at (775) 332-7360. You'll be assigned a testing location based on where you live and given additional instructions. In our area, census taker jobs start at $14 per hour. If selected, you get paid training and reimbursement for expenses like mileage.
