Now you don't have to just take my word for it. According to the travel site Orbitz.com, Lake Tahoe is #1 in its Top 10 Ski Destinations for the 2010 ski season, beating out places like Park City, Utah, Vail, Colorado, and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, among others. With 18 ski resorts from which to choose, Lake Tahoe has topped the Orbitz list for three years running.

The Lake Tahoe choice is based on Orbitz bookings for travel in 2010, from October 1 to December 31, 2009. Even though Lake Tahoe is a fine destination, I'm thinking recessionary pressure on prices has something to do with it. There are some major deals to be had for both lodging and skiing, with resorts like Northstar and Squaw Valley offering both. Of course, this is good news for us local Reno / Tahoe residents as well. We may not need to stay at the Lake, but getting discounts on those pricey lift tickets is sure nice.

I love Lake Tahoe, we use GoTahoeNorth.com when planning our trips, are there any more Web sites that have that much information? We’re always looking for tips and places to check out when we go there!

The Reno-Sparks Convention & Visitors Authority website has a bunch of info for visitors to the area. If you see something interesting in the Reno area, it’s not far to town from Lake Tahoe.
