Reno's Holiday Tree for 2009 was installed in its usual place today, at the corner of 1st and Virginia Streets. The trunk was a little too big, so it took a while for the chainsaw guy to whittle it down enough to fit in its mounting hole. Now that the tree is in place, crews will spend the next few days decorating it in preparation for the official lighting ceremony at 5 p.m. next Tuesday, November 24. Following the lighting, Rink on the River will open for the season and with the donation of a new pair of socks, gloves, mittens or a hat, skate rental will be free. Donations are for the Salvation Army.
Thanksgiving is a couple of days later, followed by the big Black Friday shopping frenzy. Yes, the 2009 holiday season is upon us.Get more Reno / Tahoe information:
