At this year's Veterans Day Parade, Reno citizens enjoyed a patriotic interlude and turned out en masse to honor the men and women who have honorably served in our Armed Forces. Mild weather helped make the parade an enjoyable success for all. ROTC units and marching bands from many local high schools, various veterans groups, and others created a stream of color and music up Virginia Street and under the Reno Arch. Every local politician of note was in attendance, along with Governor Jim Gibbons and U.S. Congressman Dean Heller. Governor Gibbons and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell participated in the ceremonial dropping of a wreath into the Truckee River from the Virginia Street Bridge, in remembrance of those service members who did not return home.
