Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe has announced it will be open this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Halloween weekend. They've been making snow the last few days and now have an 8 to 12 inch base. Mt. Rose will be operating the Flying Jenny Conveyor on its Show-Off run each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Lift tickets are only $20 for adults, $10 for kids 6 to 12, and free for 5 and under. On Halloween, show up in costume and get a $5 lift ticket discount. The Mt. Rose main lodge will be open for food and drink, but the ski school and rental shop won't be running just yet.

With mountain temperatures dropping and winter coming on, some of our other Reno / Tahoe ski areas have been busy making snow as well. Here are some tentative opening dates...

  • Boreal - open Halloween weekend
  • Heavenly - Nov. 20
  • Squaw Valley USA - Nov. 21
  • Northstar-at-Tahoe - November 21
  • Alpine Meadows - December 5
  • Diamond Peak - December 10
