If you are in danger of losing your home to foreclosure, this free forum is for you. Reno, Sparks and Washoe County are partnering with HUD, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, local consumer counseling agencies and others to provide information designed to help keep you in your home and avoid the rip-off and scam criminals this situation has fostered. Check this out if your home is in default, you are behind on payments, or are looking to refinance at a lower interest rate. The forum will also include a resource fair with information on where consumers can find help.

"For those who need help, there are several ways to make mortgages more affordable, but many homeowners don't know what is available or where to start," said Reno City Council member Pierre Hascheff. "This forum will provide homeowners with information on how to access programs that can help, know what to expect as they are going through the process and know what other options are available if they do not qualify."

The forum will be on Saturday, October 17 at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, 4590 South Virginia Street in Reno. There will be two sessions - Spanish from 9 a.m. to noon, and English from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. To attend, you must pre-register by 5 p.m. on Friday, October 16. Do so by calling (775) 334-4636 or go online to the Making Home Affordable Program Consumer Awareness and Education Forum.
