Swine Flu Update: The first shipment of the H1N1 flu vaccine has been received by the Washoe County Health District. Vaccinations are being offered first to healthcare providers and emergency medical services personnel because of their high risk for becoming infected with the H1N1 virus due to their close contact with ill patients. When it becomes available, Washoe County Health will be providing information about H1N1 vaccinations for the public.

Through the week ending October 3, 833 confirmed and probable cases of swine flu have been reported in Washoe County, including a second H1N1 flu-related death.
