The 12th Annual Truckee River Clean-Up Day will be on Saturday, September 26, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will work at one of 10 parks along the Truckee River corridor, from Verdi's Crystal Peak Park on the west side to the Lockwood Trailhead east of Sparks. Wherever you live in the Truckee Meadows, there is a location near you. In 2008, over 600 volunteers hauled off 30 tons of various trash and junk from in and near the Truckee River.

Besides picking up trash, volunteers will help with tasks like weed abatement, painting, sign installation, graffiti removal, and tree wrapping. To join the effort, fill out the online volunteer form and select your site. You can also sign up by calling (775) 851-5185. People under 18 who want to volunteer without and adult must have a signed permission form from their parent or guardian. Following the clean-up, pre-registered volunteers are invited to gather at Rock Park in Sparks for free drinks and lunch.

Truckee River Clean-Up Day is organized by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful and sponsored by numerous local businesses and government entities.
