Artown 2009 Wraps Up With Funk and Gershwin

The Funk Brothers, studio musicians and composers of many of Motown's greatest hits, will perform at the Wingfield Park Amphitheater on the last day of Artown 2009. This show is on day 32 of Artown (actually Saturday, August 1) and starts at 7:30 p.m. Like Richie Havens' opening act a month ago, The Funk Brothers performance is free, but you better get there early to have any chance at a good seat. I expect this one to be packed out.

Simultaneously, over at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts, 100 S. Virginia Street, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will be celebrating with a 40th Anniversary Gershwin Gala. Tickets to this event are $35 to $85 and can be purchased online. For more information, call (775) 323-6393.
