The City of Sparks website now has an online Volunteer Application Form for those wanting to lend a hand in support of various city functions, services, and programs. There are at least a couple of dozen areas seeking volunteer help, including parks and recreation, various committees and commissions, office work, public safety, special events, etc. They are all listed on the form and include just about every city department. You may be required to attend an informal interview and some positions may require a driver's license check and drug testing. You don't have to be a Sparks resident to participate.

If online applications aren't your thing, just download and print the application available from the online form web page. Mail it to City Clerk, Sparks City Hall, 431 Prater Way, Sparks, NV 89431. You can call (775) 353-2345 for more information about volunteering.

"In these difficult economic times, we know there are numerous individuals who would like to offer their time to help the City of Sparks," said Sparks Mayor Geno Martini. "We now have a program to help process those interested in helping us serve the residents who live in our great community. I am deeply touched by all those who have responded to our call to serve."
