The Wanderlust Festival is new this year at Squaw Valley USA, up near the north shore of Lake Tahoe. The Festival will be from July 24 through 26, featuring an interesting combination of yoga, rock and roll, and hiking. Ticket holders will ride the Funitel gondola to Wanderlust's main Gold Coast stage, which also gives them access to a variety of high country hiking opportunities on and around Squaw Peak. Other performance stages, vendors, restaurants, and night time entertainment will be at Kula Village down in Olympic Valley. The Wanderlust Festival website has descriptions of what will be going on in the way of entertainment and other things to do. There are a variety of ticket options.

Stargazing at Squaw - Several stargazing sessions are scheduled at Squaw Valley's High Camp this summer. During August, they will be on the evenings of the 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd. Professional astronomers Paul and Gigi Giles will be bringing a variety of high-powered telescopes to High Camp, where visitors can take turns peering at a variety of celestial objects - constellations, planets, satellites, galaxies, nebula, star clusters, double stars, the Milky Way. Viewing begins at dusk. All ages are welcome and no reservations are required.

The stargazing is free, but you have to get to High Camp via cable car. After 5 p.m., adult tickets are $12, children are $5. Cable car operations are subject to weather conditions - call (530) 583-6985 before you head out to make sure the cable car is running.
