Hidden Valley Regional Park is part of the system administered by Washoe County Regional Parks and Open Space. It is a wonderful family park with a wide variety of features designed to accommodate various recreational activities. I particularly like the mix of developed and undeveloped areas within this 480 acre park.

Hidden Valley Regional Park is nestled against the Virginia Range, behind Reno's Hidden Valley neighborhood. Excuse the pun, but this park is a hidden gem - there are few people around every time I have been there. That changed some with the opening last year of Link Piazzo Dog Park, which has attracted more two and four legged visitors. Other amenities include a horse arena, tennis courts, playground for children, and a rentable covered picnic area. The Virginia Range rising to the east is full of trails for hiking and biking, but be forewarned that these trend toward the steep. There are also some interesting geological features, painting the slopes with colorful swaths of yellow and orange.

I think one of the best things about this park is the views. From the parking lot you can see all the way across the Truckee Meadows to Peavine Peak. If you hike up even a short way, the Carson Range and Mt. Rose come into view across the valley. Learn more about what you'll see from my pictures of Hidden Valley Regional Park.
