Anyone can enjoy a variety of sports activities and Mark Wellman will be here to prove it. The two-time Para-Olympian is bringing Mark Wellman's Adventure Day to Sparks Marina Park on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. People with disabilities, their friends and families are invited to this free event to participate in hand cycling, kayaking, sailing, and adapted rock climbing. All ages and ability levels are welcome. Members of Disabled Sports USA Far West, Sierra Nevada Community Sailing, and Reno Mountain Sports will be on hand to work with participants.
"It's important to give people with disabilities the opportunity to try something they thought they may never be able to do," said Shauna Nelson, Sparks Recreation Supervisor and coordinator of the event. "We want to make these sports possible for everyone."
To take part, participants must have a guardian sign a release form. For more information, contact Sparks Parks & Recreation at (775) 353-7815.
