This being a betting place, one would think placing a friendly wager on Reno Aces games would be a common thing, but you'd be wrong. After initially taking bets when the Aces started playing in April, Reno-area sports books were informed by the Nevada Gaming Control Board that such action must be stopped. A regulation from 1985 states that "No wager may be accepted or paid by any book ... involving a professional team whose home field, court, or base is in Nevada." The rule was adopted at the request of Major League Baseball (MLB), whose tolerance for gambling is zero (remember the Pete Rose scandal?). Since the Reno Aces, Reno Bighorns, and Triple-A Las Vegas 51s are in fact professional teams, all bets are off. At some point, the situation could change if MLB is persuaded to alter its attitude about betting in Nevada.

Meanwhile, the season is young and there are still plenty of baseball games to enjoy. Check the Reno Aces schedule for upcoming play in our new downtown Reno ballpark. You can purchase single-game tickets in person at the stadium box office, online from RenoAces.com, or by phone at (775) 334-4700. If you can't be there in person, Reno Aces games can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM.
