Movie stars and the movies in which they appeared are coming to the National Automobile Museum in Reno. In this new exhibit, Movie Cars: Cinematic Stars on Wheels, the stars are the cars in some famous (and not-so-famous) movies. In some cases, they are much more memorable than the human actors. The cars exhibit, which opened May 22, is in conjunction with the screening of their movies in the National Automobile Museum Theatre. Movies will play at 7 p.m. on a Thursday evening each month through November. Tickets are $10, which includes the movie and admission to the museum.

The series starts Thursday, May 28, with Easy Come, Easy Go, an Elvis Presley movie with a 1996 "Mongrel T" custom roadster. Here's the rest of the schedule...

  • June 25 - Tucker: The Man and His Dream starring Jeff Bridges and a 1948 Tucker.
  • July 30 - Grease starring John Travolta, Olivia Newton John, and 1946 Ford "Grease Lightning."
  • August 27 - 2 Fast 2 Furious starring Eva Mendez, Paul Walker, and a pink Honda S2000.
  • September 24 - Die Another Day starring Pierce Brosnan, Halle Berry, and a 2002 Jaguar XKR.
  • October 29 - Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me starring Mike Myers and the "Shagmobile," a 1998 VW beetle.
  • November 19 - The World's Fastest Indian starring Anthony Hopkins and a 1960 Flying Caduceus.
The National Automobile Museum is at 10 S. Lake St. in downtown Reno, across from the Siena Casino Hotel. Theater seating is limited to 157. To ensure your spot, advance tickets can be purchased at the museum or by calling (775) 333-9300 x301. The museum will open at 5:30 p.m. on movie nights so you have time to tour the facility before the flick begins. There is free parking for museum patrons.
