Summer Swim Schedule in Sparks

Outdoor swimming facilities in Sparks will be open this summer, but with fewer hours and dates than last year. Yes, it's constraints on the city's budget forcing the modifications, but at least pools aren't closed completely as was once contemplated. If you have questions, call the Recreation Office at (775) 353-2376. Groups of 25 or more must make a reservation by calling (775) 353-7879.

• Sparks Marina Park: Recreational swimming is permitted in the designated swim areas (weather permitting) May 23 - 25, May 30 - 31, June 4 - August 30 and September 5 - 7. Hours: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Location: 300 Howard Drive. Cost: Free.
• Deer Park Pool: Recreational swimming, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday - Sunday, beginning June 6 - August 30. Location: 1700 Prater Way.
• Oppio Park Pool: Lap swimming, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday - Friday, and Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., June 8 - August 29; Recreational swimming, 1:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m., Tuesday - Thursday, June 9 - August 27. Location: 2355 18th Street.
• Cost for outdoor pools: Youth (under 18 yrs.) - $3; Adult (18 yrs. - 54 yrs.) - $5; Senior (55 yrs. & older) - $3.50; Family (up to 6 members) - $12.
