Go postal in a constructive way by donating to the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive. On Saturday, May 9, the National Association of Letter Carriers will be collecting non-perishable food items for donation to local food banks. In our case, the recipient will be the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. The food drive here in the Truckee Meadows is part of a nationwide program aimed at helping alleviate hunger right here in the United States.

To participate, just place a bag of food by your mailbox on Saturday, before the letter carrier comes. Include unexpired, non-perishable items like canned meats and soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal, and rice. No glass containers. The Postal Service will then get donations to the Food Bank for distribution to those in need. To learn more, visit the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive website.

Food donations are also being accepted at area markets - Raley's, Scolari's, Smith's, Trader Joe's, Safeway, Save Mart, and Whole Foods Market.
