At this writing (Monday afternoon, 4/27/09), there are no reported cases of swine flu anywhere in Nevada, according to information released at a 12:30 p.m. press conference held at the Nevada State Emergency Operations Center. However, as a precautionary measure, Nevada will be bringing in medication from the federal strategic stockpile. Of five states with confirmed cases, California is the closest. In Washoe County, officials are urging people to stay calm. "We're just telling people right now be on heightened alert," said Judy Davis of Washoe County District Health Department, on Sunday. "Be a little more aware of what's happening, and we will certainly keep people updated as things develop...if they develop locally."
Go to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for up-to-date swine flu information. The Nevada Department of Health and Human Services is also a source for swine flu information.
