The Reno Aces gave the hometown crowd a great show on their opening night, beating the Salt Lake City Bees 11 - 1. The sellout crowd of over 9,000 fans on Friday enjoyed a great game and perfect weather for an evening of baseball in the new Reno Aces ballpark.
On Saturday, the Aces fell to the Bees 9 to 6, but it wasn't without trying. The game featured four home runs, including the park's first ever from Aces designated hitter Josh Whitesell. In the seventh inning, Whitesell followed up with a grand slam homer, another park first. Unfortunately, Whitesell's efforts weren't enough to overcome some hot hitting from their opponent.
Reno Aces games will be on Fox Sports Radio 1450 AM. The announcer is Ryan Radtke, who has been calling games for the Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks for seven years. Radtke is also the radio announcer for UNR Wolfpack football and basketball games.
